Creating a Self-Innovating Strategic Machine

How can you bring new energy into an organisation and ignite something different? How do you take the lead on something that hasn’t been there before?

It all starts with the internal world.

The same as you would motivate a sports team you were coaching, you have to know them and they have to know you. You have to trust them and they have to trust you. It’s an invisible bond that exists within any group of humans.

This invisibility can be stretched, expanded and become something new over time, people move into new space, as they’re given problems they wouldn’t usually be given and can solve them without difficulty. This is an example of bringing people together in a shared sense of purpose while helping them explore their talents. If we all see the world differently then there’s unlimited potential given a different or changing environment. Over time your new environment begins to unfold before you as you begin to create new space for yourself to move into. You might just catch yourself doing something out of character for your regular old self.

To create a self innovating strategic machine you have to have strong foundations, you have to connect ideas together to be able to move as one. This works outside of the hot hand fallacy where a string of successes creates continued success. Creating a self-innovating strategic environment is about doubling back. Doubling back to where you were to ensure you can continue to build outward. This build out might be new technology, a new way of leading or a new way of doing business but if you can build in the double back, then in rapid succession you can drive through a dozen ideas and concepts in a very short period of time. One, or more of these ideas, with time will break through.

This double back to deliver, which is based on your own skills, knowledge and experience then becomes the space you work in and you automatically move forward without thinking. The original challenge of creating new energy by that point is forgotten about because you’re too far ahead of where you were.
